William Hugh Henshaw5,7,8,9 [Hugh Henshaw3,10].
(Known as Hugh in family oral history).10
Born Aug 18 18861,2,3,8,9 [Aug - 18877], Stonefort, Saline County, Illinois1,2,3,8,9.
William was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 1900), living in the household of brother Milo, Stonefort, Williamson County, Illinois (census image very faded):7
Henshaw, William, brother, age 12 [unclear], born Aug 1887 in Illinois; parents born in Illinois.
He married Della M. Brower3,8 [Mary V. Brower4, Mary N. Brewer5], about 19093,8. Della was born about 1889, Missouri.1,2,3,8
William and Della were shown in the 1910 census (Apr 20 1910), Conran, New Madrid County, Missouri:8
Henshaw, William H., head-of-household, age 23, born in Illinois; parents born in Illinois; first marriage, married 1 year; occupation: laborer, s[..unclear..] factory; owned home.
Henshaw, Della, wife, age 21, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; first marriage, married 1 year; no children.
Living in the same dwelling with William and Della (but shown as separate head-of-household, even though shown under the same household) was a Jaspar and Mary Abney:11 Abney, Jaspar N., head-of-household, age 57, born in Illinois; parents' birthplaces unknown; second marriage, married 27 years; occupation: [..unclear..], s[..unclear..] factory; owned home.
Abney, Mary, wife, age 45 [or 43 or 48 - unclear], born in Illinois; parents born in Illinois; second marriage, married 27 years; 1 child, 1 living.
Martin, Mary A., niece, age 15, born in Illinois; parents born in Illinois.
It is unclear if the above Jaspar Abney family was actually living with Hugh and Della in 1910 - the census shows them as separate heads-of-household, both shown owning their home, yet they were listed together under the same household listing. This was probably a census error.12
On Jun 5 1917 William Hugh Henshaw, age 30, registered for the World War I draft in Dunklin County, Missouri. He declared he was born August 18 1886 in Stonefort, Illinois, and was then residing in Campbell, Missouri, a farm laborer employed by R.D. Crenshaw of Campbell. He declared he had a dependent wife and three children; no previous military experience. He was recorded as medium height, medium build, black eyes, black hair.9
