He married Evelina Gentry4 [Evaline Gentry10], Nov 8 18584, Louisa County, Virginia4.  (Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia).10,11  Evelina, daughter of Austin Gentry, was born about 1843, Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia.10,11,12  

During the Civil War, Pleasant J. Henshaw served as a Private in Company F, 56th Virginia Infantry.5  

He then married Mary C. Sharp, Jun 7 1875, Louisa County, Virginia.4  Mary was born about 1833, Virginia.1  

Pleasant and family were shown in the 1880 census (Jun 16-17 1880), Louisa County, Virginia (recorded as what appears to be Hinchey overwritten as Henshaw - i overwritten with e, c overwritten with s, ey ending overwritten with aw):1
