He married Mary Baumgarden, Mar 4 1857.4,7 Mary, daughter of Dr. James Baumgarden & Joanna Merideth, was born Mar 10 1844, Jennings County, Indiana.3,5,7
In 1868 Mary's sister, Margaret Baumgarden Belt (wife of Frank Belt) died, leaving a three-week old infant, James Edgar "Jimmy" Belt (May 1 1868 - Apr 15 1957), who was then adopted into the Hanshew household and raised as their own child.3
Andrew and family were shown in the 1880 census, Dallas Township, St. Clair County, Missouri:5

Hanshew, Mary, wife, age 38, born in Indiana; parents born in Indiana; keeping house; sick or temporarily disabled: "child birth".
Hanshew, Isora, daughter, age 9, born in Missouri; parents born in Indiana.
" [sic], James E.B., son [sic], age 12, born in Missouri; parents born in Indiana; attended 2 months of school within the year.
Living two houses away in 1880 was the household of a Jas. Baumgardner, age 63, and his wife Elizia, 4410 (possibly Mary's father & stepmother).11
Andrew L. Hanshew died Aug 18 1890, Dallas, St. Clair County, Missouri; buried King's Prairie Cemetery, near Gerster, St. Clair County, Missouri.4,7,12
After Andrew died Mary remarried to James W. "Bill" Mullennix.3 James had been previously married to Mary's sister, Sarah A. "Sally" Baumgarden, who had died in 1909.3
Mary and her husband and stepson James Belt were shown in the 1920 census, St. Clair County, Missouri:13
Mullennix [unclear], J W, head-of-household, age 77, born in Indiana; father born in Ohio; mother born in Indiana; owned home; occupation: none, retired.
" Mary, wife, age 76, born in Indiana; father born in United States; mother born in Indiana.
Belt, James, stepson, age 51, born in Missouri; mother born in Indiana; father born in United States; occupation: farmer, home farm.
Mary died Jun 15 1923, at her home, north of Collins, St. Clair County, Missouri; buried next to Andrew, King's Prairie Cemetery, near Gerster, St. Clair County, Missouri.3
Mary's obituary was published in the "St. Clair County Democrat" on Jun 28 1923:7
Mary Baumgarden was born March 10, 1844 in Jenning county, Indiana and died at her home north of Collins June 15, 1923. She was married to Andrew L. Henshew March 4, 1857 and he died August 18, 1890. To this union were born four children, two boys and two girls; Viola who died in 1899, Izara, Ulysis and David. She was married again September 13, 1909 to James W. Mullinix and he died December 11, 1921. She joined the Baptist church in early life and lived a Christian life. She leaves to mourn their loss three children, one nephew, James Belt, one brother and one sister. She was buried in King's Prairie cemetery by the side of her first husband.
