Note: In spite of Emma being shown age 13 in the 1880 census,¹ making her birth about 1867, she was not shown with her parents and family in the 1870 census.² It seems likely she was either born after 1870, or possibly she might have been adopted.³ Her parents could not read or write, so they no doubt had no written birth records.

She married Pleasant Alonzo "Peter" Boggs, Mar 30 1884, Jackson County, West Virginia.^4,5,6 Pleasant, son of James W. Boggs & Sarah Ann Good, was born Jun - 1854, West Virginia.^6,7,8
