On Jun 5 1918 Ira Emmet Hinshaw, age 31, registered for the World War I draft in Scottsboro, Jackson County, Alabama. He declared he was born June 16 1896 in Francisco, Alabama (father also born in Francisco, Alabama), and was then still residing in Francisco, Alabama where he was a self-employed farmer. Under "nearest relative" he wrote "3 brothers & 3 sisters". He was recorded as medium height, gray eyes, dark hair. Although written "Ira Emmet Hinshaw" at the top of the card, he signed it "Irey Emit Hinshaw".10
He married Nannie Helen Jacks, Dec 29 1918, Franklin County, Tennessee.1,5 Nannie, daughter of Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Jacks & Hariet Jane "Hattie" Robertson, was born about 1902, Alabama.2,5,8,11
