Conrad Hinshaw

Conrad Schwartz Hinshaw, husband, father, and soldier, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 20th of June 2012, at the age of 95.

He was born in El Paso, Texas, on the 16th of January 1917.  He graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Civil Engineering, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Texas Aggie Band.  He married Patricia Quinn on the 12th of May 1943 at Trinity Church.

During World War II, he served as an officer in the Army Air Corps.  While overseas, his daughter Connie was born, whom he did not see until she was 6 months old.  After the war, they settled in Houston, but he was called back into active duty from 1950-52, during the Korean War.

He was an engineer for the Harris County Flood Control District until forming his own consulting firm which later merged with Edminster Engineering.  He served as President of Edminster, Hinshaw and Associates, a firm which recently celebrated 75 years in Houston.

He enjoyed lunching with his friends the "Gumbo Brothers," world travel, and dancing with the ladies at Who's Who International parties.

A member for over 65 years, he served Trinity Episcopal Church as an usher and member of the Endowment Board.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Effie Philora Hinshaw; and his wife of 54 years, Patricia, who died in 1997.  He is survived by his daughter, Constance, and son-in-law Lawrence Brown.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Belmont Village and Houston Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from two until four o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, 24th of June, in the Drawing Room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

A memorial service, celebrating Mr. Hinshaw's life, is to be conducted at half-past noon on Monday, the 25th of June, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1015 Holman Street at Main Street in Houston, where the Rev. Michael J. Roeske, Assistant Rector, is to officiate.

Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Fellowship Hall.

Prior to the memorial service, the family will have gathered for a private interment service at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Mr. Hinshaw's name may be directed to the Trinity Church Endowment Fund, 1015 Holman St., Houston, TX, 77004; or to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX, 77030.
