In 1988 Gaines was still living in/near Roxton, Lamar County, Texas.6  

Gaines Nathan Hinshaw died Dec 13 1988, Lamar County, Texas; buried Restland Cemetery, Roxton, Lamar County, Texas.3,5,6,7,9  Tombstone inscribed 'TEC 5 US Army WW II'.7,10  

From an undated and unnamed obituary found in the Taylor Collection in the GSNET Library:7

Gaines N. (Cotton) Hinshaw, 75, of Roxton died at his home at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13.  Services were held Thursday, Dec. 15, at 2:30 p.m. at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Starnes, the Rev. Martin Corie, the Rev. Tom Brown and the Rev. Walt Marcum officiating.  Burial was in Restland Cemetery at Roxton.  Mr. Hinshaw was born Dec. 23, 1912, in Roxton, a son of Will N. Hinshaw and Ollie Thompson Hinshaw.  He attended Roxton schools and married Margaret (Maggie) Wright on April 14, 1939.  He was a retired farmer and served in the Army during World War II.  He was a member of the Roxton Kiwanis Club, the First United Methodist Church in Roxton, the Farm Bureau, and the Disabled American Veterans.  Surviving are his wife; two sisters, Mildred Maroney of Garland and Lavada McFatridge of Big Sandy; and a brother, Walter Hinshaw of Garland.  He was preceded in death by a son, David Hinshaw, June 15, 1960, and a sister, Evelyn Hinshaw.  If memorials are desired, the family requests they be made to St. Joseph's Hospice.

In 2004 Margaret was living in Roxton, Lamar County, Texas.11  

Margaret died Jan 15 2007, Paris Regional Medical Center, Paris, Texas; age 87.8

Margaret W. Hinshaw, 87, a lifelong resident of Roxton passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, in Paris Regional Medical Center.  

Graveside services are set to be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, in Restland Cemetery in Roxton with the Rev. Gary Regan officiating.  Services are under the direction of the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.  

She was born on April 29, 1919, in Roxton, the daughter of Brooks and Maurine Maxwell Wright.  She was a homemaker, a member of the Roxton United Methodist Church, former member of the Tejas Garden Club and the Women's Society of Christian Service.  She married Gaines "Cotton" Hinshaw on April 14, 1939, in Roxton.  He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1988.  

She was also preceded in death by her son, David Wright Hinshaw on June 15, 1960.  

Survivors include nephews, Dr. Duane Hinshaw of Plano, Scott Hinshaw of Wylie, Joel Hinshaw of Richardson and Robert McFatridge; a niece, Jimmie Maroney of Garland, and many friends.
