Jack J. Simony Jack J. Simony, 78, passed away Jan. 31, 1999. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Peggy Simony; and his children, Robert (Debbie) Simony and Barbara Simony Hammond. Grandfather of Jacob, Joshua, Jared, and Jonah Whitcomb, Dawn (Chris) Rogue, Kristina (Ryan) Nemeth, Randy, Brian and Curtis Swartz; as well as two great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers, Anthony (Marie) Simony, John (Daphne) Simony, George Simony and Edward (Agnes) Simony; sister, Catherine Simony; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Simony was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Pueblo. He spent four years as Sargeant in the U.S. Army European Theatre during World War II, and was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Medal and a Bronze Star Medal. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis, past president of the Nocturnal Society, minister of Christian Service, taught religion classes for 30 years and was the First Lector in the city of Pueblo. Mr. Simony worked for the Rio Grande Railroad for 20 years and retired from the Linde Division of Union Carbide after 25 years of service. Rosary, Thursday, 6 p.m., and funeral Mass, Friday, 10 a.m., Holy Family Church. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Fort Carson.

Rosella "Peggy" Simony Rosella "Peggy" Simony, 83 passed away on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, with her family at her bedside. Preceded in death by her brothers, Elwood, Joseph and Billy Hinshaw; loving husband of 56 years, Jack Joseph Simony. She is survived by her children, Robert and Barbra Simony. She leaves behind eight loving grandchildren, Dawn, Amy, Jacob, Kristina, Joshua, Jared , Jonah, Robyn; and nine great-grandchildren. Peggy also leaves some dear and special nephews, Carl and Buddy Hinshaw along with her beloved in-laws, John and Daphne Simony, Edward and Agnes Simony, and Catherine Simony. Special mention also goes to her dear friend and neighbor of more than sixty years, Maureen Sullivan, and friend and caregiver Jeannie Jensen. She was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Pueblo, Colo. to William E. Hinshaw, Jr. and Mary (Urban) Hinshaw, where she lived a very productive life. After graduation she worked 20 years at the telephone company, and then retired after working another 20 years at Sears. Peggy is well known for all of the unique crafts she created out of simple every day items. She was a member of the Walmart Ladies craft Club. She also liked to surround herself with things that were bright and sparkly. She was an organist and member of Holy Family Catholic Parish. She served as past president of the Pueblo Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, past president of The Council of District Women, and past president of the Ladies of Mary at Holy Family Parish. The Funeral Mass will be held on Jan. 16, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Parish. She will be laid to rest at Imperial Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at the church in Holy Family Parish Hall to celebrate her life and to share in all the joys she brought to all those who loved her.
