HEYWORTH - Marvin W. Haycraft, 81, of Heyworth passed away at 6:15 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 14, 2006) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
His service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Richard Gray officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Scogin Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the memorial home. Memorials may be made to Full Gospel Tabernacle, Heyworth or the Scogin Hill Cemetery Association, Bloomington.
He was born Aug. 2, 1925, in McLean County, a son of James Mitchell and Ethel May Sprinkle Haycraft. He married Fontella Lou Hinshaw on Sept. 8, 1945, at Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Rex (Chris) Haycraft, Waynesville and Jay (Jill) Haycraft, Wapella; five grandchildren, Rae (Chad) Weber, Crystal Haycraft, Jeremy (Jessica) Haycraft, Jaime (Corey) Holland and Jenny Haycraft; three great- grandchildren, Jordyn and Ethan Weber and Mayci Haycraft; four sisters, Irine (Allen) Campbell, Bloomington; Dorothy Johnson, Heyworth; Donelda (Calvin) Karr and Loretta (Kenneth) Forrest, both of Clinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, a daughter, Debra Jean, and two brothers, Cecil and an infant, preceded him in death.
Marvin served in the United States Army during World War II. Upon returning from the army, he began farming and in 1957 became an auctioneer. He owned and operated the Wapella Auction House for over 40 years.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, raising livestock and spending time with his family.
Marvin was a life member of Heyworth Lodge 251 A.F. & A.M., a past master of Shirley Lodge 572 A.F. & A.M., life member of Little-Embry-Rainey Post 1059 V.F.W. and Carl E. Miller Post 624 American Legion in Heyworth. He attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Heyworth.
