John Leonard Hinshaw died Aug 1 1926, at his home, about four miles east of Montpelier, Jay County, Indiana; buried Pennville Cemetery, Pennville, Jay County, Indiana.6

Mr. Hinshaw Died Sunday
Injuries received last Tuesday when buggy hit by auto proved fatal.
John Leonard Hinshaw, age 62 years, who was injured last Tuesday evening when the buggy in which he was riding and being driven by him, was hit by an automobile driven by Roy Cline, of nearby Pennville, passed away Sunday at 8:30, at his home about four miles east of Montpelier. Mr. Hinshaw had not regained consciousness from the time he was thrown from his buggy until death.
The accident occurred when Mr. Hinshaw was near his home, and the rear of the buggy was crashed into by a Ford sedan driven by Cline. Cline stopped and rendered aid, and stated that on account of the dim lights on the automobile, he was unable to see the buggy until too late. Medical aid was called immediately after the accident, but the injured man remain in a sub-conscience condition, and did not improve at all.
John Leonard Hinshaw was born in Randolph County, November 29, 1863, and his age at the time of death was 62 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Titus Hinshaw. He has lived in Jay County for the past forty years, near the Blackford County line, coming to that section when a young man. His life was spent in the occupation of farming. He was married at Winchester on Jan. 26, 1883, and he is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Hinshaw, and five children, Alva R. Hinshaw, of Berne; Stella May Whitaker, Hartford City; Frances E. Slusher, near Montpelier; and Edith E. O'dell, of Montpelier; also the following brothers and sisters: Nan Fudge, Winchester; Tommy Hinshaw, Traverse City; Jacob Hinshaw, of near Montpelier; Joe Hinshaw, Fiat; Hettie Cline, near Pennville; and Sadie Quillen of Hartford City.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church at Pennville, and burial will be made in the Pennville cemetery.
