Born Jan 9 1868, Starke County, Indiana.1,2,3,4,5  

In Oct 1889 James G. Hanshaw homesteaded 160 acres of land in Dundy County, Nebraska.  He built a 10'x16' frame house with a shingle roof, with a well, cellar, and a 14'x24' stable.  He declared he was not married and was living alone on the homestead.6  

He married Phoeby Ann -.7  Phoeby was born 1868.7  

Phoeby died 1946, buried Lerch Cemetery, Knox, Washington Township, Starke County, Indiana.7  

James Grant Hanshaw died Mar 30 1955, Plymouth, Starke County, Indiana; buried Lerch Cemetery, Knox, Washington Township, Starke County, Indiana.1,8  (May 26 1956).2
