He married Clarice Helen Roosa1,7,8, Apr 5 19151,7,8 [Apr 5 191417, Apr 9 191418], Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana17 [Randolph County, Indiana18].  Clarice, daughter of David Roosa & Helena Phillips, was born Apr 9 1894, Randolph County, Indiana.3,4,17,19  

On Jun 5 1917 Earl Hinshaw, age 24, registered for the World War I draft in Washington Township, Wayen County, Indiana.  He declared he was born April 25 1893 in Bloomingsport, Indiana, and was then residing in Milton, Indiana, occupied as a farm laborer employed by Silas Clark of Milton.  He claimed an exemption due to "wife and children".  He was recorded as tall, slender, dark blue eyes, dark brown hair.15

On Apr 27 1942 Earl (no middle name) Hinshaw, age 49, registered for the World War II draft in Bluffton, Wells County, Indiana.  He declared he was born April 25 1893 in Randolph County, Indiana, and was then residing "3 mi. n.w. Bluffton on Road 116", self-employed.  He declared his relative/contact was Clarice Helen Hinshaw of the same address.  He was recorded as 6' tall, 209 lbs., blue eyes, brown hair, dark complexion.16  

In 1942-1979 Earl was living in/near Bluffton, Wells County, Indiana.14,20  

Clarice died Jan 19 1964, at her home, Murray, Wells County, Indiana; age 69.17,18  

Clarice's obituary was published in "The Bluffton News-Banner" (Bluffton, Indiana) on January 20, 1964:17

Mrs. Clarice Helen Hinshaw, 69 wife of Earl Hinshaw of Murray, died at her home.  She had been in failing health for two years.  A native of Randolph Co., Mrs. Hinshaw was born 09 Apr 1894, the daughter of David and Helena Phillips Rossa [sic].  Her marriage to Mr. Hinshaw took place 05 Apr 1914 in Winchester.  Mrs. Hinshaw, a resident of Wells County 40 years, attended the Murray Missionary Church.  Surviving in addition to the husband are two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Frances) Williams of Keystone and Mrs. Willard (Doris) Dale of Hagerstown; three sons, Gerald Edgar Hinshaw of Mishawaka and Richard K. and Donald P. Hinshaw, both of Bluffton Route 4, 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Burial was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery at Ossian.

Earl Hinshaw died Dec 1 1979, Clinic Hospital, Bluffton, Wells County, Indiana; age 86.14,18  

Earl's obituary was published in "The Bluffton News-Banner" (Bluffton, Indiana) on December 3, 1979:18

A retired farmer, Earl Hinshaw of Murray, 86, Bluffton Route 5, died 01 Dec 1979 at Clinic Hospital.  Death due to a stroke, followed an illness of five weeks.  Born 25 Apr 1893 in Randolph Co., he was the son of Elzey and Mary Ellen Robbins Hinshaw.  His marriage to Clarice Roosa, who died in 1964, took place April 9, 1914 in Randolph Co As a hobby, Mr. Hinshaw raised strawberries and raspberries for many years, and after his retirement cut and sold firewood.  

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Frances) Williams of Petrolem and Mrs. Willard (Doris) Dale of Hagerstown; three sons, Gerald E. Hinshaw of Houston, TX, and Richard Hinshaw and Donald Hinshaw, both of Bluffton Route 5, 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.  Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery at Ossian.

Earl, the fourth son born to Elza and Mary E, Hinshaw was born April 25, 1893 and spent his boyhood days in the Snow Hill settlement.  When he became a man he was married on April 5, 1915 to Clarice Roosa of Winchester, Indiana.  They have a family of three fine children, Frances, Edgar and Doris.  They live near Bluffton, Indiana.
