Leary's obituary was published in the "Grand Rapids Press" (Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan) on Tuesday, June 20 1967.8 Another obituary was published in "The Daily Herald" (Chicago, Illinois) on Wednesday, June 21, 1967:5

Funeral services will be held in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Wednesday (today) for Leary R. Hinshaw of Mount Prospect. He died Monday in Northwest Community Hospital at the age of 49. He was born in Farmland, Ind. He is survived by his wife Wanda, son David of Ann Arbor, his father-in-law, D. O. Jones of Fort Wayne, Ind., and two brothers, George R. of Modac, Ind., and Paul S. [sic] of Farmland. He will be buried in Grand Rapids.
