He married Lottie M. Stuart, about 1904.1,5,6,7  Lottie, daughter of John Stuart & Lisa Love, was born Mar 14 1885, Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana.1,2,7,12

On Oct 22 1918 Walter William Hinshaw was issued a U.S. passport "to France for Salvation Army Work with the United States Military Forces in France".  He declared he was born May 4th 1886 in Randolph County, Indiana, and his father, Elwood O. Hinshaw was born in Randolph County, Indiana and was then "deceased; died in Randolph Co. Ind. winter of 1896".  Walter declared he was then residing at 400 W. Broad St., Hazleton, Pennsylvania, occupied as a Salvation Army Officer.  He declared he intended to depart Sep 30 1918 from the port of New York, intending to visit France for the purpose of "Salvation Army work with the U.S. Military Forces in France".  He was recorded as age 32, 5' 8" tall, blue eyes, blonde hair, fair complexion, "full, clean shaven" face, round chin, "straight, rather large" mouth, straight nose.10

Lottie died Dec 26 1969, Oil City Hospital, Oil City, Pennsylvania; buried Jan 2 1970, Jericho Friends Cemetery, Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana.12,15,16  

Lottie's death was reported in "The Derrick" (Oil City, Pennsylvania) on Monday morning, December 29, 1969;16 Lottie's obituary was reported in "The Derrick" (Oil City, Pennsylvania) on Monday, December 29, 1969;12 (see scans below).  

In 1985 Walter was living in/near Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania.11  

Walter William Hinshaw died Oct - 1985, buried Jericho Friends Cemetery, Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana.11,15
