He married Susannah D. Dimmitt1 [Susanna O. Dimmett2,15, Susannah O. Dimmit7], Sep 4 18511, Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa1.  Susannah, daughter of Jacob Dimmitt & Rebecca Ellis, was born 6-21-1836, Lynville, Iowa.1,2,16  

At Richland MM on 5-31-1854, Thomas & wife Susannah and minor son Jacob Ellis were received on a certificate from Spring Creek MM [Iowa].1  

Susannah died 10-18-1854, Poplar Ridge MM, near Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.1,2,4  

He then married Juretta J. Evans2,5,6,17 [Jaretta J. Evans18, Juliette Evans7], Sep 20 18552,5,6,17, Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana2,5,6,17.  Juretta, daughter of Jonathan R. Evans & Martha Thornburg, was born 1-9-1830, Indiana.1,2  

At Richland MM on 10-31-1855, Thomas was reported married contrary to discipline and was disowned.1  

At Richland MM on 7-30-1856, Thomas was received in membership.1  

Thomas and family were shown in the 1860 census (Jul 14 1860), Clay Township, Hamilton County, Indiana:19

Jurretta Hinshaw, age 27, born in North Carolina.
Jacob E. Hinshaw, age 7, born in Indiana.
Thomomas [sic] Hinshaw, age 6, born in Indiana.
Franklin P. Hinshaw, age 2, born in Indiana.
Martha E. Hinshaw, age 1, born in Indiana.
Living next door in 1860 was the family of Juretta's parents, Jonathan & Martha Evans;20 also living nearby was the family of sister Millicent.21  

Juretta died 4-3-1863, Poplar Ridge MM, near Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana; buried Carmel Cemetery, Carmel, Indiana.1,2,4  

He then married Lydia Davis, Aug 17 1864, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,2,7,10,22  Lydia, daughter of Henry Davis & Lydia Howard, was born Jul 27 1838, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,2,13,23,24  

At Poplar Ridge MM on 6-29-1868, Lydia was received in membership.1  

At Poplar Ridge MM on 4-7-1870, Thomas & Lydia were granted a certificate to Cottonwood MM, Kansas.1  

At Cottonwood MM on 5-7-1870, Lydia Hinshaw (formerly Davis) & husband Thomas and children Stephen & Guielma & Martha Ellen were received on a certificate from Poplar Ridge MM dated 4-4-1870, "returned to Indiana".9  

Thomas Hinshaw died Sep 5 18722,3,7,13,25 [Sep 6 187212], Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas2,3,7,13,25; buried Cottonwood Cemetery, Emporia, Kansas2,3,7,13,25.  

Lydia remarried to William Smith, Mar 23 1878, Lyon County, Kansas.26  

Lydia and son Perry were shown in the 1880 census (Jun 5 1880), Fremont Township, Lyon County, Kansas:27

Smith, Lydia, age 41, born in Indiana; father born in Pennsylvania; mother born in Ohio; married; keeps house.
Hinshaw, Perry T., son, age 8, born in Kansas; parents born in Indiana; attended school.
William Smith was also shown in the 1880 census (Jun 9 1880), Fremont Township, Lyon County, Kansas, shown with his nine children and a line showing Lydia Smith, lined-through.28  

Although Lydia remained in Lyon County, Kansas with son Perry, her other living children had moved back to Hamilton County, Indiana by 1880.  

At Cottonwood MM on 1-18-1894, Lydia was granted a certificate to Eagletown MM, Indiana.9  

Widow Lydia was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 18 1900), living alone in Washington Township, Hamilton County, Indiana:23
