On Dec 7 1942, Harold E. Hinshaw, born 1922 in Indiana, enlisted as a private in the U.S. Army at Indianapolis, Indiana.  He declared he had one year of high school and was single, without dependents.  He was recorded as 66" tall, 150 lbs.7  

He married Betty B. Beeson, Mar 9 1946.5,8,9,10  Betty, daughter of Charles D. Beeson & Gladys Morrison, was born Jun 27 1924, Kitchell, Union County, Indiana.8,11,12  

In 1997-2003 Harold and Betty were residing in New Castle, Henry County, Indiana.9,13  

Betty died Mar 25 2006, The Waters of New Castle, New Castle, Henry County, Indiana; age 81.8,11

Betty B. Hinshaw

Betty B. Hinshaw, 81, of Mount Summit died Saturday at The Waters of New Castle following a long illness.  

She was born June 27,1924, in Kitchell, a daughter of Charles and Gladys Morrison Beeson.  

She was a member of the Mount Summit Community for 56 years and was a 1942 graduate of Losantville High School.  She was a member of the Hagerstown OES 196.  She had worked in the dietary department of Henry County Memorial Hospital from 1960-1980.  She had worked five years for Perfect Circle in Hagerstown.  She was very involved in her family's activities and needle point and shopping.  

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harold E. Sr., whom she married March 9, 1946; a daughter, Jacqueline Sue Darby of Lafayette; a son, Harold E. "Edd" Jr. (wife: Alyce) of Mount Summit; four grandchildren, Jennifer D. (husband: Clem) Krutz of Lebanon, Dr. Heather (husband: Aaron) Baker DVM of Lafayette, Eddie (wife: Susan) Hinshaw of Springport and Brian Hinshaw (companion: Wendy Bell) of New Castle; five great-grandchildren: Ava and Eden Baker, both of Lafayette, Blade and Brayden Hinshaw, both of Springport, and Hannah Hinshaw of New Castle; also several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law including sister-in-law, Carolyn (husband Gary) Grim of Mount Summit, whom she helped raise; a brother, Fred (wife Ann Marie) Beeson of Dunkirk; an aunt, Mildred Thornburg of Richmond; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

She was prededed in death by a son-in-law, Don E. Darby; a brother, Charles Beeson Jr.; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.  

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home with the Rev. David Siebenaler officiating.  Burial will follow in Mount Summit Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Hagerstown OES 196 will conduct a memorial service 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Harold E. Hinshaw Sr. age 91, lifelong resident of Henry County, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2013.  He was at his home surrounded by his loving family.  

He was born October 10, 1922 in Henry County, Indiana a son of the late Herschel and Eva Van Demmis Hinshaw.  

Harold attended schools in Knightstown, Indiana and was an Army Veteran of World War II.  He served in the European Theater and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He served proudly, and Honorably from December 1, 1942 to February 1, 1946 and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  

After returning from the service, he married the love of his life Betty B. Beeson on March 9, 1946.  She preceded him in death March 26, 2006 after 60 years of marriage.  

Harold enjoyed working and did so until age 80.  He served as a school bus driver for the Mt. Summit and Blue River Valley Schools for a total of 36 years.  Harold was a farmer for 38 years, and worked for the Henry County Highway Dept. after his retirement from farming.  

He attended the Mt. Summit Christian Church, was a member of the Hagerstown, Indiana Masonic Lodge, and Hagerstown Order of Eastern Star.  A sports enthusiast, Harold enjoyed bowling and golf, even hitting a hole in one at the American Legion Golf Course in New Castle, IN.  He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Indianapolis Colts.  Most of all, Harold loved family activities, especially when the activities involved time shared with his Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed.  

Left to cherish his loving memory include: one Daughter, Jacqueline Sue Darby of Lafayette, Indiana, one Son, Harold E. "Edd" Hinshaw Jr. (Wife Alyce) of Mt. Summit, Indiana, four Grandchildren; Jennifer D. Kreutz (Husband Clem) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Heather Baker DVM (Husband Aaron) of Lafayette, Indiana, Eddie Hinshaw (Wife Susan) of Springport, Indiana, Brian Hinshaw of New Castle, Indiana, Great Grandchildren; Ava Baker of Lafayette, Indiana, Eden Baker of Lafayette, Indiana, Luke Baker of Lafayette, Indiana, Blade Hinshaw of Springport, Indiana, Brayden Hinshaw of Springport, Indiana and Hannah Hinshaw of New Castle, Indiana.  Also Siblings; Dorothy Ryan of New Castle, Indiana, Carolyn Grim (Husband Gary) of Mt. Summit, Indiana, Gerald Hinshaw of Mooreland, Indiana, Bill Hinshaw of New Castle, Indiana, Carl Hinshaw (Wife Vicki) of New Castle, Indiana, Sister-in-Law Anna Marie Beeson of Dunkirk, Indiana, Also many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.  

He was preceded in death by: his Parents, Herschel and Eva Van Demmis Hinshaw, Wife, Betty Beeson Hinshaw, Son-in-Law Don E. Darby, Siblings; Margaret Sweigart, Bess Hoy Austin, Robert Hinshaw, Joseph Hinshaw, Betty Dick, Eula Mae Dick, Charles Hinshaw, Dick Hinshaw, Sister-in-Law Gloria "Tiny" Hinshaw.  

Visitation will be from 6 - 9 P.M. Friday December 20, 2013 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services in New Castle and two hours before the funeral at Mt. Summit Christian Church.  

Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 21, 2013 at Mt. Summit Christian Church with Rev. Mark O'Brien officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Summit Cemetery in Mt. Summit, Indiana.  

Hagerstown Masonic Lodge will conduct a Memorial Service at 10:00 A.M. Saturday December 21, 2013 at the Mt. Summit Christian Church.  

Military Honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and a contingent from the United States Army.  

Memorial contributions may be directed to Mt Summit Christian Church, Henry County Hospital Hospice, or Lymphoma Cancer Research with envelopes available at the funeral home and at the church.
