Ruby Ellen Hinshaw

TORRINGTON -- Funeral services for Ruby Ellen Hinshaw, 93, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Nazarenus officiating.  Burial will follow at the Valley View Cemetery.  

She died Sept. 18, 2006, at Goshen Care Center in Torrington.  

She was born April 14, 1913, in Inavale, Neb., the daughter of Frank and Leona (Jenson) Smith.  She grew up on a homestead south of Lewellen, Neb., and she attended rural schools in that area.  

She and her twin sister, Ruth, married brothers, Ralph and Clyde Law.  She and Ralph had four children and were later divorced.  

In 1948, she married Jim Hinshaw and they moved to Torrington.  

In 1950, they moved to Yoder, where they owned and operated "Jim's Garage," until retirement in 1971.  

He died in 1980 and she moved back to Torrington in 1984.  

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and had also been a member of the Kitchen Band at the Senior Friendship Center in Torrington.  

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Ilene Mann of Conroe, Texas and Nila Gutches of Shoshone, Idaho; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Law of Slidell, La., and Bill Law of Torrington; a brother, Ernest Smith and his wife of Otto and 11 grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim, four brothers and her twin sister.  

Memorials may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church or to Goshen Care Center.  

Arrangements are under the direction of Colyer Funeral Home.
