Harvey Dolphus Hinshaw

On Dec 14 1918 Harvey D. Hinshaw was issued a U.S. passport. He declared he was born September 28th 1895 in Yadkin County, North Carolina, and his father, Isaac M. Hinshaw was born in North Carolina and was then residing in Yadkin County, North Carolina. Harvey declared he was then residing in Yadkinville, North Carolina, occupied as a teacher. He declared he intended to depart on "information withheld" from the port of New York on the French Line, intending to visit France and England for the purpose of "Reconstruction and relief work in American Friends Reconstruction Unit". Where the pre-printed form stated "I do solemnly swear" Harvey lined-through "swear", replacing it with "affirm". He was recorded as age 23, 5' 4" tall, brown eyes, dark brown hair, dark complexion, oval face, square chin.⁴

He married Minnie Clementine Casstevens, Sep 7 1933, Yadkin County, North Carolina.² Minnie, daughter of Melchesideck Casstevens & Tennessee Delphia Mackie, was born May 9 1899, Yadkin County, North Carolina.^2,8

Minnie was a graduate of Guilford College, Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina.²

Harvey Dolphus Hinshaw died Sep 7 1960, Burke County, North Carolina; age 64.^2,3

Minnie died Apr 5 1975, Yadkin County, North Carolina; buried Harmony Grove Friends Cemetery, Yadkinville, Yadkin County, North Carolina.^2,3,8
