MEETING IS HELD
ON AIRPORT
DEAL

Washoe county commissioners and the vice president of the United Air Lines conferred last night on a proposal to buy 250 acres of land from Louis Damonte for enlarging the present airport.

Hainer Hinshaw, vice president of the UAL, arrived in Reno yesterday afternoon and he stated that while final action must await a directors' meeting, he believed his company would accept the county's proposal to buy the land for $42,000, the county paying $18,000 and the air lines company will deed its present field to the county and then the enlargement program will be carried out as a WPA project.

At the present time a condemnation suit against seven ranch owners to obtain the needed land is pending in the district court.  If the county and air company buy the Damonte land then the condemnation suit will be dropped.

On Dec 1-3 1937, Hainer addressed the Seventh Annual Convention of the National Association of State Aviation Officials.  His speach, titled "The Protection of Aviation from Inequitable Taxation", was published in 1938 in the "Journal of Air Law (page 81-87).26
