Born Jul - 1838, probably Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1,2,3,4 (c1837).5 Christened Aug 29 1838, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.6 (Shown in the LDS IGI in one entry with Aug 29 1838 as the birthdate,6 but in another entry with Aug 29 1838 as the christening date).6
Andrew emmigrated to the U.S., sailing from Liverpool on the ship Webster, entering the U.S. on Mar 22 1858 (recorded as age 20, born in Scotland).7
Andrew was shown in the 1860 census (Jul 20 1860), living or staying (apparently as a lodger/boarder) in the household of an Edward Bell, Buffalo, Erie County, New York:5

He married Elizabeth -, about 1861.2,3,4 Elizabeth was born May - 1841, Ireland.1,2,3,4
Note: there is some uncertainty about where Andrew & Elizabeth might have been married. Andrew appears to have immigrated to the U.S. independently of Elizabeth, he in 18587 or 1860,3 and she when very young in 1845.3 From this it seems likely that they were married in New York.8 However, son Austin was born in England about 1862,1,2 so it is possible that Andrew & Elizabeth might have traveled to England shortly after their marriage (maybe to visit relatives).8
