Born Nov 21 1908, Hamilton County, Indiana.3,4,5,6,7,8 No birth certificate at birth; delayed birth certificate issued Mar 4 1941.4
On Nov 27 1936 Melvin, age 28, was living at 3½ East Side Square, Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois. He was employed by the Globe American Corporation of Macomb.5
He married Florence McElroy, Feb 7 1931, Arcadia, Indiana.1,9 Florence, daughter of Ralph E. + Iva McElroy, was born May 8 1908, Reelsville, Putnam County, Indiana.9
Florence died Mar 19 1933.9
Florence's obituary was published in the "Kokomo Tribune" (Kokomo, Indiana) on Monday, March 20, 19339 (see scan below).
He then married Juanita Glass.1
Juanita deserted the family, relocating and later remarried.1
Melvin was a manufacturing inspector.1
In 1954 Melvin was living in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois.10
Melvin Clifford Hanshew died Nov 25 1982, Coal Valley, Rock Island County, Illinois; buried Greenview Memorial Gardens, Rock Island County, Illinois.3,6,11 Medical: Melvin died from "cancer of the lung with metastasis to brain".11
