Sarah Gumbel PEKIN - Sarah Jane Gumbel, 81, of 1814 Highwood Ave., Apt. 1, died at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at Pekin Hospital.   She was born June 23, 1926, in Pekin to Raymond and Winona Hill Hinshaw.  She married Robert Gumbel on Sept. 24, 1944, in Pekin.  He preceded her in death on March 11, 1989, in Peoria.   Surviving are two daughters, Jeri (David) Moehring and Jo Ellen (Tom) Kendall, both of Pekin; five grandchildren, Brett (Michelle) Moehring, Amy (Rob) Baughman and Megan Moehring, all of Pekin, Chad (Stacie) Kendall of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Shawn Kendall of O'Fallon, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren.   Gumbel was employed as a secretary in the Dean's office and later in the District office at Pekin Community High School District 303 for 25 years, retiring in 1986.   She was a member of First United Methodist Church.   She was a charter member of Sunset Hills Country Club.   She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, golfing, and was a Chicago Bears football fan.   Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Terry C. Edele officiating.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. prior to services Wednesday at the church.   Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Memorial and Tributes Lockbox, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.   To express condolences online, visit: www.preston-hanley.com.
