Robert D. Hinshaw, 88 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 5:47 am in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.  

On December 3, 1922, Robert was born in Elwood, Indiana to O.D. and Louise (Schmidt) Hinshaw.  He married Mary Ruth Ackerman on October 4, 1942.  She preceded him in death on August 2, 2005.  

Robert graduated from Indianapolis College of Pharmacy (which joined Butler University in 1944) in September of 1943 with a BS Degree in Pharmacy and entered into retail pharmacy in Elwood the same year.  

In Elwood, Bob served on the board of directors and as president of the Elwood Chamber of Commerce and also the same with the Elwood Country Club.  

In the late 1940's, he joined the Quincy Masonic Lodge of Elwood and the Scottish Rite Temple in Indianapolis and retained membership for over 60 years.  He joined the Elwood Kiwanis Club in October of 1944, serving as President in 1952 and was elected to serve as LT. Governor of the Flying 7th Division in 1954.  

Moving to Warsaw in April of 1969, he joined the Warsaw Kiwanis Club and served as the club's secretary from 1970 until 1979.  After serving Kiwanis with 45 years of perfect attendance, he took Life Membership Status in Kiwanis International.  

In 1969, he joined Thornburg Drugs, retiring in 1988.  At which time he started working as a Pharmacist in Kosciusko Community Hospital.  Retiring in 1993, he worked as a relief pharmacist for Marsh's, the Pillbox, Brennans, The Medicine Shop and Hooks.  He was an active retail pharmacist for over 56 years.  In 1994, he started the KCH Seniors' Club, retiring after 16 years.  In 1999, he started the Prescription Assistance Program for the residents of Kosciusko County, which saved the people many thousands of dollars.  

Bob is survived by a special friend, Norma Botkin, Warsaw.  He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Louise Hinshaw in 1993.  

A memorial service will be on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 10:00 am at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Joe Wilkey officiating.  There are no visitation hours planned.  Burial will be at a later date at Elwood Cemetery, Elwood.  

Memorial donations may be made to the Robert D. Hinshaw and Mary Ruth Hinshaw Scholarship Endowment Fund at Kosciusko County Community Foundation Inc., 102 East Market Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
