Robert Hinshaw died 1855.1,2 (probably buried Shotts Churchyard, Lanarkshire, Scotland).3
Robert drowned in a well on or near the family farm.1 He had been left in the care of his thirteen year old sister Janet. She later told her granddaughter that she had been reading when Robert wandered off. Robert was later found dead in the well by one of his brothers. Janet wrote a short poem expressing her grief:2
When my pretty young brother did find
Lying in that fatal well
A little prince from my parents' house
Into which he had misteriously fell
