Born Jul 25 1922, Black Rock, Lawrence County, Arkansas.6,7,8,9  

He married Peggy May Titlow, Dec - 1944, England.1,9  Peggy was born Aug 10 1926, Norwich, England.1  

On Nov 21 1945 "Cly E Q Hanshaw" [sic], born 1922 in Arkansas, enlisted at New Castle, Delaware as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army Air Corps.  He declared he was a resident of Yuma, Arizona, had four years of high school, was married, and employed as an automobile serviceman.8  Clyde attained the rank of Corporal in the Air Corps.10  

Clyde and Peggy were divorced Nov 1970, Santa Barbara County, California.1  Peggy died Apr 19 1997, Pryor, Mayes County, Oklahoma.1  

He then married Marguerite Nixon9 [Maggie Nixon11].  

No children from the second marriage.9  

Clyde Quinton Hanshaw died Nov 1 2011, Country Oaks Care Center, Santa Maria, California; age 89.9

Clyde Quinton Hanshaw passed away at the age of 89 on November 1, 2011 at Country Oaks Care Center, Santa Maria, California due to a recent illness.  

Clyde was born July 25, 1922 in Black Rock Arkansas to Claude Quinton Hanshaw and Maude Prudence Rice.  Clyde's first marriage was to Peggy May Titlow of Norwich, England.  Clyde and Peggy had ten children.  A second marriage was to Marguerite Nixon, no children.  

Clyde is survived by his sister Delphia (Dale) Forbes, TX and survived by his children, Robin Lee Hanshaw, CA; Denise Marie Smith, OK; Kyle Jackson Hanshaw, OK; Dale A. Stirling, WA; Vanden Keith Hanshaw, Karen Sue Dinsmore and Carlton Eugene Hanshaw, of OK.  He also has a large number of grand-children and great-grand children.  

In 1942, Clyde began his military career in the U.S. Army Corps as a airplane and engine mechanic where he attained the rank of Corporal.  Clyde's military service took him to Europe during World War II and he also spent time in Puerto Rico and Okinawa.  Clyde served stateside in Illinois, Mississippi, Florida, Colorado and California.  His longest tour of duty was at Vandenberg A.F.B., California where he was part of the 4300th Support Squadron (Space Launch) and the 392nd Missile Training Squadron (THOR) from 1957 through 1966 when he retired as a Master Sergeant.  He continued to be in the Air Force Reserve until 1972.  Clyde during his military career was awarded with the European Theater of Operations Ribbon, the American Theater of Operations Ribbon, Victory Medal, German Occupation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.  He also received many Certificates of Training as well as a Bachelor's Degree.  Clyde retired in Lompoc, California but continued to work at Vandenberg A.F.B for ITT - Federal Electric Corporation.  While with ITT he spent some time in Thule, Greenland and then retired from ITT in 1986 Clyde had a great interest in sports of all kinds.  He was at one time an avid bowler and enjoyed a good card game of pinochle.  He enjoyed listening to music, especially country, enjoyed traveling, cars and a good cigar or smoking a pipe on occasion.  He participated in many activities, organizations and political events during the time he lived in Lompoc.  He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge for over 20 years.  

Clyde was a resident from March 2006 up to his passing at Country Oaks Care Center in Santa Maria, California.  Great appreciation is felt for all those who have been a part of his life while there.  He was provided with a place of belonging, respect, friendship and love.  Clyde was affectionately called "Chief' as he informed many that he was in charge and kept things in order.  A big thank-you to everyone else who helped with Clyde as his life went through so many changes.  Clyde had many sayings, but the one that will be remembered with fondness is, "Don't go spending any wooden nickels."  God bless you Dad and Grandpa.  If you wish to make a remembrance on his behalf, please make a donation to Country Oaks Care Center, Santa Maria, CA.  

In honor of his request there will be no services.  Private burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
