1952 - 2016Gregory T. Hinshaw, 64, of Atlanta, Indiana, lost his battle with cancer Friday, October 7, 2016. Greg was born February 28, 1952 in Noblesville to the late Max and Edith Hinshaw. He was a 1970 graduate of Westfield High School where he lettered in wrestling. He was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving four years in Germany during the Vietnam War.
A skilled construction equipment operator Greg worked over 40 years in the industry specializing in concrete foundations and poured walls. He was a land surveyor for residential and commercial development. He most recently worked for Firm Foundations in Westfield.
A prolific reader, Greg volunteered and assisted the Atlanta Public Library with book selection specifically Science Fiction. Greg had a brilliant mind, loved brain teasers, trivia, crossword puzzles, and going to movies and the State Fair with family. He was an avid IU Basketball fan and a lover of animals especially his canine companion Lobo.
Greg is survived by his siblings, Deanna J. (husband, LeRoy dec.) Cooper, William W. (wife, Eileen) Hinshaw, D. Parker (wife, Jean) Hinshaw, Jennifer D. (husband, Alan) Arthur and Lori Lynn (husband, Darrell) Boothroyd; 20 very special nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Flanner and Buchanan-Hamilton Memorial Park, where family and friends are invited to gather from 4:00 pm until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society for Hamilton County or the Wounded Warrior Project. Please visit flannerbuchanan.com to sign the online guest register.
