He declared he was born May 9 1889 in Randleman, North Carolina, and his residence was Big Sandy, Montana. He declared he was single and a farm laborer working for W.R. Tuttle, 12 miles from Big Sandy, Montana. He was recorded as tall, medium build, brown eyes, light hair.⁷

Jesse was shown in the 1920 census (Jan 8 1920), living in a rooming house on Dewey Avenue in Eureka, Lincoln County, Montana:⁶

He married Cora Mae Skidmore² [Cora May Skidmore^10,11,12], about 1929². Cora, daughter of John W. Skidmore & Estelle L. "Stella" Hoover, was born May 22 1905, Mecklenberg County, North Carolina.^{1,2,3,10,11,12,13,14}

Jesse and family were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 9 1930), living with Cora's widowed mother and family in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina:²

Jesse Oscar Hinshaw died Jun 28 1961, Mercy Hospital, Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina; age 72.^4,8,9,17

Jesse's obituary was published in the "Washington Post" (Washington, D.C.) on Jun 30 1961¹⁶ (see scan below).

Cora died Dec 6 1990, buried Section H, National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Fairfax County, Virginia.¹⁴
