GIBSONVILLE -- Kennie Carson Wallace, 83, of 503 East Joyner St. died suddenly Wednesday night at 8:23 o'clock in a Greensboro hospital.
He was a native of Moore County, son of the late J.W. and Lou Sewell Wallace. He was the husbans [sic] of Mrs. Bessie Andrews Wallace of the home, who survives.
He was a retired construction carpenter, and worked as a school guard at Turrentine School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church.
Surviving, other than his wife, are three sons, the Rev. Carl E. Wallace of Hampton, Va., Norman H. Wallace of Greensboro and Douglas L. Wallace of Philadelphia, Pa.; three daughters. Mrs. Arnold Hinshaw, Mrs. Frances Kasey and Mrs. Harvey McQueen, all of Greensboro; one sister, Mrs. Robert Morphis of Robbins; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Finial [sic] rites will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Gibsonville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Cowart, pastor, officiating. The Rev. J. Billy Graham, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, will assist. Burial will be in Providence United Church of Christ cemetery in Graham.
The body will remain at Bartlett Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes before the service. The family will be the funeral home [sic] tomorrow night from 7 to 9 o'clock and at other times will be at the home of Mrs. Troy Mabe of 713 Springwood Ave.
