On Jun 5 1917 J. Cliford Hinshaw, age 23, registered for the World War I draft in High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina. He declared he was born Oct 8 1893 in Randleman, North Carolina, and he was then residing in High Point, North Carolina where he was a telephone lineman employed by the "NC-State Telephone Co." of High Point. He was married with children. He was recorded as medium height, medium build, gray eyes, brown hair. The name field of the draft registration card was handwritten as "J. Cliford Hinshaw", but it was signed as "J. Clifford Hinshaw".2
