Co. out of Effingham".  He was recorded as tall, medium build, blue eyes, dark hair.6

On Apr 27 1942 Cecil Robert Hancher, age 52, registered for the World War II draft in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.  He declared he was born 4-25-90 in Mobile [sic], Missouri, and was then residing at 2300 Liberty Avenue, Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana, employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad in Terre Haute.  He declared his relative/contact was Mrs. Anna Mabel Hancher of the same address.  He was recorded as 5'11" tall, 205 lbs., blue eyes, gray hair, light complexion, and "faint scar under lower lip - left side".7  

The following article was published in "The Kokomo Tribune" (Kokomo, Indiana) on Wednesday, December 31, 1947:14

Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Hancher had as weekend vistors Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Walters and Mr. and Mrs. William Walters of Terre Haute.

Anna died Jul 28 1948, Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana.2  

The following article was published in "The Kokomo Tribune" (Kokomo, Indiana) on Saturday, August 21, 1948:15

Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Hancher and family and C. R. Hancher Sr., were among other guests at a dinner party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Walters in Terre Haute Sunday in celebration of the birthday of Mrs. Walters.

He then married Lucy Irene Walters16 [Lucy Irene Arney16, Irene Lucy Walters17,18].  Lucy was born Apr 30 1919.17,18  

Lucy had been previously married to Redwin Arney (divorced), by whom she had a son, Ronald Arney.16  

Lucy died Jun 15 1960, buried Grandview Cemetery, Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.17,18  

He then married Grace -.2  Grace was born 1894.2  

Grace died Jan 24 1974, Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.2  

Cecil Robert Hancher died Jul 29 1974, Turtle Creek Convalescent Centre, Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana; cremated, buried Grandview Cemetery, Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.10,12  

Cecil's obituary was published in "The Kokomo Tribune" (Kokomo, Indiana) on Tuesday, July 30, 197419 (see scan below).
