In 1836 Zephaniah Silver purchased 275¾ acres from his father, Francis Silver.  The land included a beautiful brick house which his father had built there in 1821.  Zephaniah and Martha kept the plantation until after the Civil War and sold it in 1868 for $12,000.00 to a John Hershey.16
