Lula was born from a relationship her mother had with a young man from a wealthy family, before she met Clelaind Hanshew. The young man's family objected to his marriage to Lula's mother because she was a farmer's daughter. After her mother married Clelaind Hanshew, Lula was raised as Lula Hanshew. Lula didn't learn of this until he was in her 40s.1
She married Art Kellogg.1
