Martha and Joseph were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 9 1930), living in an apartment house at 2707 Adams Mill, Washington, D.C.:5

Tennyson, Martha H., wife, age 24, born in District of Columbia; father born in New York; mother born in District of Columbia; first married at age 23; occupation: stenographer, U.S. govt.

Joseph died Apr 16 1988, Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina; age 83.1,2,7  

Joseph's obituary was published in "The Washington Post and Times Herald" (Washington, D.C.) on Wednesday, April 26, 1988:7

Charlotte Hall Teacher

J. Burch Tennyson, 83, a retired teacher of mathematics and other subjects at Charlotte Hall Military Academy in St. Mary's County for about 20 years, died of pheumonia April 16 at a hospital in Asheville, N.C.  

Mr. Tennyson was born in Washington.  He graduated from Central High School and George Washington University.  

He taught in the D.C. schools during the 1930s, then was at Charlotte Hall Military Academy until 1962 when he retired and moved to Venice, Fla.  

He taught at a high school there until 1984 when he retired a second time and moved to Franklin, N.C., where he had been working as a teacher's aide.  

Mr. Tennyson had been active in Knights of Columbus and he did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels.  

Survivors include his wife, Martha Henshaw Tennyson of Franklin.

Martha S. Henshaw died May 19 1997, Cary, Wake County, North Carolina; age 91.1,2
