Harold C. Hanshaw died Jan 31 1951, North Korea.2,5,6
During the Korean War, Harold served as a private in the U.S. Army, Battery C, 38th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was captured Nov 30 19503,7 while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea. He was held as a POW, and died in North Korea. His remains were not recovered.2 Presumed dead Mar 7 19548 (see newspaper article below).
His service and sacrifice is noted on a monument in Honolulu, Hawaii.9
Private First Class Harold C. Hanshaw was awarded the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.2
