Susan H. Baker, 56, of Macungie, died Thursday, Jan. 6, in Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. She was the wife of William C. Baker. They were married for 32 years in December. A graduate of East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C., she taught at First Baptist Pre-school, Bethlehem, for the last nine years. Previously she taught first grade at Randleman (N.C.) Elementary School. Born in Asheboro, N.C., she was a daughter of Golda Lee (Robbins) Hinshaw of Randleman, and the late Charles Worth Hinshaw. She was a member of Episcopal Church of the Mediator, Allentown. A swim instructor for more than 30 years, she taught for seven years at the Emmaus Aquatic Club, and received an Outstanding Teachers plaque from the National Swim School Association, St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1997. Survivors: Husband and mother; son, Chip of Biscoe, N.C.; daughters, Paige, wife of Billy Carter of Eagle Springs, N.C., Betsy, wife of Brandon Walts of Albany, Ga., Mitzi and Mary, both at home, and a granddaughter. Memorial services: 3 p.m. Sunday in Episcopal Church of the Mediator. No calling hours. Arrangements, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus. Contributions: Susan Baker Memorial Fund of the Emmaus Aquatic Club.

MACUNGIE, Pa. - Susan Hinshaw Baker, 56, of Macungie, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, at Episcopal Church of the Mediator, Allentown, where she was a member.
She was a native of Randolph County, a teacher at Randleman Elementary School, a swim coach and instructor with Emmaus Aquatics Club in Emmaus, Pa., and a preschool teacher at First Baptist Church in Bethlehem, Pa.
Surviving are husband, William C. Baker of the home; mother, Golda Lee Hinshaw of Randleman; son, Chip Baker of Biscoe; daughters, Mitzi Baker and Mary Baker of the home, Paige Carter of Eagle Springs and Betsy Walts of Albany, Ga.; one grandchild.
Arrangements are being handled by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home in Emmaus, Pa.
