John was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 16 1900), living with his grandmother, Sarah (Roup) (Hinshaw) Page in Slater, Saline County, Missouri:8

Henshaw, John, nephew, age 16, born April 1884 in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; attended school 9 months.

He married Ella M. Liggett1,5 [Mary Ella Liggett2,3], about 19081,5.  Ella, daughter of John + Thurza Liggett, was born Apr - 1887, Missouri.1,2,10  

John and family were shown in the 1910 census (May 3 1910), Eighth Street, Clinton, Custer County, Oklahoma:1

Henshaw, Ella M., wife, age 23, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; first marriage, married 2 years; 1 child, 1 living.
Henshaw, Kathleen, daughter, age 1, born in Oklahoma; parents born in Missouri.

On Sep 12 1918 John Elzae Henshaw, age 34, registered for the World War I draft in Newton, Harvey County, Kansas.  He declared he was born April 23rd 1884, and was then residing at 106 E. 1st, Newton, Kansas where he was a minister at First Christian Church.  He declared his nearest relative was Mary Ella Henshaw of the same address.  He was recorded as medium height, slender, light blue eyes, grayed black hair.3  

John and family were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 2 1920), 106 First Street, Newton, Harvey County, Kansas:2

Henshaw, J.E., head-of-household, age 35, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; rented home; occupation: clergyman, Christian Church.
Henshaw, Mary Ella, wife, age 32, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri.
Henshaw, Mary Kathleen, daughter, age 10, born in Oklahoma; parents born in Missouri.

He then married Leta S. -.9  Leta was born about 1886, Missouri.9  

John and family were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 8 1930), 300 E. Walnut, Washington, Daviess County, Indiana:9

Henshaw, J.E., head-of-household, age 46, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; first married at age 24; occupation: minister, First Christian; not a war veteran.
Henshaw, Leta S., wife, age 44, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; first married at age 21.
Brown, Kathleen **, son [sic], age 20, born in Kansas; parents born in Missouri.
Note: the third line for this family in the 1930 census was written as "Brown Kathleen", then lined through and overwritten above with what appears to be "Verna" or "Vernon", shown as a male and "son", age 20, making this person born about 1910, the same age as daughter Mary Kathleen.  Note that in the 1920 census this family had no son shown.  It is believed this line actually represents daughter Mary Kathleen but there is some uncertaintly.  Mary Kathleen was also enumerated on Apr 2 1930 living with (or visiting) Ella's parents in Marshall, Saline County, Missouri.  

John Elzae Henshaw died Jun 30 1941, buried Lot 69 Section 17, Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall, Saline County, Missouri.4,5
