Born Jul 14 1885, Maryland.1,2 (Jul - 1886).3 Bernard and sister Bertha were twins.
On Sep 12 1918 Bernard Hanshew, age 33, registered for the World War I draft in the District of Columbia. He declared he was born July 14 1885, and was then residing at 2909 O St., Washington, D.C. where he was a Navy yard machinist employed by the federal government. He declared his nearest relatived was Mary Hanshew of Germantown, Maryland. He was recorded as medium height, medium build, grey eyes, black hair.2
