She married Walter C. Sumner, about 1960.1  Walter, son of Carl C. Sumner & Ethel G. Zoller, was born Sep 29 1932, Springfield, Ohio.3

Julia Ann Sumner, 67

MUNCIE - Julia Ann (Hinshaw) Sumner, 67, Muncie, IN, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 27, 2005.  

She was born in Muncie, August 8, 1937, the daughter of Kenneth and Thelma (Macy) Hinshaw, graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1955 and Ball State University in 1959 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing.  

She worked as a Registered Nurse in the surgery department at Ball Memorial Hospital for 28 years, then in recent years, as a surgical nurse for Dr. Roberto Darroca.  

Julia lived her entire life in the Muncie area, and had been a lifelong member of the local Friends Meetings.  

She also volunteered at Minnetrista Cultural Center for several years.  

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Walter Sumner; one sister, Bette Cline, and brother-in-law, Nelson, of Moneta, Virginia; her son, Steven Sumner, Muncie; her daughter, Sharon Schamberg, of Auburn; and four grandchildren, Craig, Katelyn, Elizabeth, and Michael.  

Friends and family may call Friday, April 29th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Parson Mortuary.  

There will be a memorial service at Friends Memorial Church in Muncie, Saturday, April 30, 2005, beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by graveside services at Gardens of Memory.  

Memorials may be sent to Friends Memorial Church, 418 W. Adams, Muncie, IN 47305, or to the nursing program at Ball Memorial Hospital, 2401 W. University, Muncie, IN 47303.

Walter died Aug 14 2014, Riverview Hospital, Noblesville, Hamilton County, Indiana; age 81.3

Walter C. Sumner, 81, former Muncie resident, more recently a resident of Cicero, IN, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, IN.  He was born September 29, 1932, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Carl C. and Ethel G. Zoller Sumner.  He graduated from Plattsburg High School in 1951 and from Otterberg College.  

Mr. Sumner was a cryptnographer in the Army during the Korean War.  

He was employed at Westinghouse Corporation for thirty years prior to his retirement in 1993.  

Mr. Sumner was a member of Friends Memorial Church, and at one time worked at Cornerstone and the Y’s Men’s Club. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.  

Surviving are his wife, Carolene Landes Sumner; his son, Steven Sumner, Muncie, IN; his daughter, Sharon Schamberg, Auburn, IN; his step-son, Lance Landes, Vincennes, IN; his brother, Carl C. Sumner, Jr., Polaskie, PA; four grandchildren, Craig, Katelyn, Elizabeth and Michael; one great-grandson, Bentley; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia A. (Hinshaw) Sumner, who died in 2005; and his sister Ethel Stewart.  

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Friends Memorial Church in Muncie, IN.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.  

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Parson Mortuary in Muncie, IN, and an hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
