On Jun 5 1917 Erle N. Henshaw, age 28, registered for the World War I draft in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana. He declared he was born Sept. 17 1889 in Dallas, Texas, and was then residing in Oil City, Louisiana where he was single, without dependents, and an electrician employed by an oil company. He was recorded as tall, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair.3
On May 8 1920 Erle Norris Henshaw was issued a U.S. passport. He declared he was born Sept. 17 1889 in Dallas, Texas, and his father, Fred M. Henshaw was born in Wooster, Ohio, then residing in Houston, Texas. Erle declared he was then also residing in Houston, Texas, occupied as an electrician. He declared he intended to depart "on receipt of passport" from the port of Pt. Arthur, Texas, intending to visit Mexico for the purpose of "employment". He was recorded as age 30, 6' 1" tall, blue eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, oval face, square chin, high forehead, and a "scar on right forearm". The passport application was accompanied by a letter from the vice president of The Texas Company of Houston, Texas, affirming that Erle's "services are badly needed" in Tampico, Mexico, and "although not being in the employ of the Company previously, had, however, been employed by us for service in Mexico where he is badly needed".4
He married Ella F. Molbert, about 1928.1 Ella was born about 1893, Louisiana.1,2
