Born Nov 18 1890, Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas.4,5,6,7,8,9,10  

On Jun 5 1917 William R. Hanshew, age 26, registered for the World War I draft in Summit County, Ohio.  He declared he was born Nov 18 1890 in Topeka, Kansas.  He was recorded as short, light build, blue eyes, brown hair.6  

On Oct 2 1918 William R. Hanshew, then residing at 1530 Atlantic Ave., Monaca, Pennsylvania, was inducted at Akron, Ohio as a Private in the 15th Infantry, U.S. Army.  Honorably discharged Dec 5 1918.7,10  

He married Elizabeth Goulenz9 [Elizabeth Gulentz9, Elizabeth A. Gulantz1, Elizabeth A. Bissel2, Elizabeth A. Bissell3].  Elizabeth, daughter of John Gulentz & Mary Spahn, was born Feb 23 1889, Pennsylvania.2,3,9  

Elizabeth had apparently been previously married to a -- Bissel/Bissell, by whom she had sons Harry A. and Charles W. Bissel/Bissell.2,3

Elizabeth died Feb 8 1962, John J. Kane Hospital, Scott, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; age 72y 11m 13d.9
