Richard L. Henshaw

Richard L. Henshaw born 21 June 1927 in Altoona, PA to Michael & Mildred Henshaw, survived by his wife Joyce of 57 years; sons Rod & Jeff; grandchildren Heather, Adriana and 2 great-grandchildren.  Richard graduated from Altoona Technical High School and immediately entered the U.S. Army-Air Corps.  Richard's career was totally devoted to various aviation aspects, during WW II he was a full time member of Civilian Patrol on the East Coast, as WW II ended Richard entered the Air Force and participated as a flight Engineer.  He participated in the test, evaluation and activation of the U.S. first Multi-jet Bomber B-45, 47th Bomb Group.  Following active service Richard became a full time Air National Guard and then was employed by the Air Force as a civilian Air Force Engineer for 46 years participating in many projects.  Promoted to supervisor Richard received various awards to include Presidential Award and the highest civilian Meritorious Medal.  Following retirement from government service Richard worked 13 more years for Engineering firm Command Technology Inc.  Richard was an avid train buff, his father Michael Henshaw having worked for the railroad as Richard was growing up.  The Henshaw family would like to thank the staff from Home Health Care, Jennifer Castillo and Lorraine Glass for their love and care they provided for Richard.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home, funeral services will be held 12:00 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park.  Please visit our website at www.mem.com to leave a personal tribute for the Henshaw family.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in the name of Richard L.
