GRAHAM - Nelson Rex Paris, 63, of 1488 Snipes Road, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Rachel Hinshaw Paris and the son of the late J. Jack Paris and the late Essie Leach Paris.
Mr. Paris was a retired warehouse manager for the Alamance-Burlington School System and a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
He is also a member of Thomas M. Holt Masonic Lodge No. 492 AF and AM and the Burlington Shrine Club.
In addition to his wife, Rachel, of the home, Mr. Paris is survived by his daughter, Natalie Paris Maness and her husband, John D. II, of Snow Camp; two granddaughters, Hannah Ruth Ann Maness and Lindsey Lee Ann Maness; a sister, Bennie Louise Paris Smith and her husband, Keller, of Atlanta; a brother, George M. "Buddy" Paris (Brenda Allen), of Mebane; and a niece and three nephews.
The Revs. Cathy Hoyle and Carson Wiggins will be officiating the graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Following the service, there will be a Masonic Rites service.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 4824 Salem Church Road, Haw River, NC 27258 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Masons are asked to meet at Thomas M. Holt Lodge No. 492 AF and AM, Johnson Street, Graham, at 9:30 a.m. for an emergent communication. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery at 11 a.m.Rich and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham is in charge of arrangements.
