James had dark eyes and a dark complexion.2  

He married Sarah Susannah "Sadie" White, Feb 2 1910, Randolph County, North Carolina.1,13,14  Sarah, daughter of Alexander C. White & Margaret Gray, was born Dec 14 1887, North Carolina.4,10,11,15  

On Jun 5 1917 James E. Hinshaw, age 28, registered for the World War I draft in High Point, North Carolina.  He declared he was born July 28 1888 in Randolph County, North Carolina, and was then residing in High Point, employed as a carpenter, with a dependent wife and child.  He was recorded as tall, slender, brown eyes, dark hair.7
