HINSHAW CLEMMONS - Luanne Mahannah Hinshaw Sept. 16, 1957 - Oct. 22, 2011 Luanne Mahannah Hinshaw, 54, of Clemmons passed away on October 22, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a 17-month courageous battle with cancer. Luanne was born on September 16, 1957 in Winston-Salem to M. Thomas Mahannah and Barbara C. Mahannah. Luanne was an incredible and devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert (Robin) Hinshaw; mother and father, Barbara and Tom Mahannah, son Justin Miles Andrews and daughter-in-law Jenn of Charlotte; grandmother, Doris F. Mahannah; two stepsons, Rob and Brett Hinshaw; one stepdaughter, Cortney Andrews; two sisters, Michele LaMachio and husband Jon of Olive Branch, MS; Tommi Goodwin and husband John of Knoxville, TN; nephews; Zach and Shinn LaMachio and John and Jesse Goodwin. Luanne graduated from West Forsyth High School where she was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad. After high school, she received a Registered Nurse degree from Watts School of Nursing in Durham; Bachelor of Science degree from Gardner-Webb and Masters of Science in nursing education from UNC-Greensboro, graduating cum laude. She was employed at Forsyth Medical Center for 22 years, serving as charge nurse in the Intensive Care unit, Open Heart Unit, Case Manager and Nurse Educator. At the time of her death, she was employed by Alere, an international diagnostic and health management company as Vice President of Clinical Compliance and Integrity/ Health Improvement. Luanne had many passions in her life including most anything concerned with animals. She has nurtured rescue dogs throughout her life. "Missy" is her current loving companion. She enjoyed her yard and flowers and spent many hours working in her garden. She has been a generous caregiver to friends in need and a loving and cherished friend to a host of individuals she and Robin call "family". She also leaves a number of special friends that have been always ready to help her during her illness, especially Kathryn Russell, Pat Wagner, Karen Bostic and Lisa Monk. Luanne enjoyed the friendship she formed with the "Board", long-time members of a group of Robin's golf companions and special friends. Those who love Luanne will be left with memories of her beauty, intellect, unconditional love, kindness and her devotion to her family and friends. Everyone will miss her sweet spirit and strength of character. The Family will hold a private memorial service. A celebration of Luanne's life will be held at a later date. The Family has established a Facebook page in Luanne's memory: Facebook.com/ LMHcelebration. All are encouraged to share your feelings, memories, pictures and stories regarding Luanne. Luanne requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to AARF (Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation, Inc.) and the American Cancer Society.
