2 Cousins Hurt
In Car CrashTwo cousins were hurt Saturday night when their car crashed on Seventh Avenue in North Charleston.
David P. Hanshaw, of 1619 Sugar Creek Dr., who reportedly was thrown from the vehicle, was admitted to Charleston General Hospital for observation. His cousin, Melvin R. Hanshaw, 26, of 1021½ Hendrix Ave., was treated for a broken nose and face cuts, then released.

Melvin Ray Hanshaw, Sr, 71, of Fisher Ridge, Kenna, passed away August 13, 2012, with his loved ones by his side. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose Hanshaw; his parents, Leonard and Mary Hanshaw; son, Ray Hanshaw; brothers, Robert and Roger Hanshaw; sister, Wanda; and granddaughter, Amanda Southall, and her unborn little angel. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Halley and husband, Robert, and Tammy Reed and husband, B.J, all of Kenna; grandson, Collin Reed; brother, Gary Hanshaw and wife, Jean, of Ohio; his companion, Carol Miller; as well as nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. Very special thanks to Deanna Berry for taking such good care of him. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 17, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, with the Rev. Buddy Mairs officiating. Burial will follow in Garnes Cemetery, Kenna. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice.
