Henshaw-Igou

THE REV. NORMAN CONLIN performed the marriage ceremony Saturday (July 18, 1970) uniting Miss Constance Jean Igou and John Douglas Henshaw.  St. Leo's R. C. Church was the setting at 5 p.m. for the double-ring nuptials for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.  Frederick L. Igou Sr., 4110 Isherwood Drive.  Town of Niagara, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Henshaw, Lansdale, Pa.  

The wedding took place on the 60th wedding anniversary of the bride's maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl S. McCahan of Tyrone, Pa.  

THE BRIDE was given in marriage by her father.  She wore an A-line gown of white silk organza with slightly scooped neckline and full sleeves appliqued with white daisies and extending in a chapel train.  Her cathedral veil was secured by a band of fresh daisies and baby's breath.  She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses, stephanotis, ivy.  daisies and miniature carnations tied with white satin ribbon.  

Mrs. Frederick Anderson was matron of honor.  Her white cotton floor-length gown had white embossed daisies and a moss green velvet belt, complemented by an open crown picture hat.  She. carried a colonial bouquet of yellow and bronze daisy pompons with baby's breath.  

The bridesmaids, similarly attired in pale blue, were Mrs. John Mis.  Mrs. Frederick Igou Jr. and Miss Katherine Henshaw.  Their pompons were white and yellow.  

LINDA McCAHAN and Kathleen McCahan of Tyrone were junior bridesmaids and Rebecca Joy was flower girl, with a blue pinafore over her white dress.  

Robert Henshaw, Jackson. N.J., was best man.  Ushers were George Henshaw, Frederick Igou Jr., and Russell DcFazio.  Steven Snyder and John Snyder were junior ushers.  

A reception at 6 p.m. was held at the Lewiston Fireball.  

The couple plans a wedding trip to Toronto and will reside at University Court.

John Douglas Henshaw died Aug 12 1995, Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, Niagara County, New York; age 53.2,5  

John's obituary was published in "The Buffalo News" (Buffalo, New York) on August 14, 1995 [partial obituary below]:3

Services for John Douglas Henshaw, an employee of Aero Instruments Co. in North Tonawanda, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Otto Redanz LaSalle Park Chapel, 2215 Military Road.  

Henshaw, 53, of Isherwood Drive, died Saturday (Aug. 12, 1995) on arrival at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after apparently suffering a heart attack at home.  

He was born in Queens and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx.  

Henshaw served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1963.  

He moved to Niagara Falls in 1970. ...

Constance died Jul 8 2008, at her home, Niagara, Niagara County, New York; age 61.5,6

"Loving Mother and Grandmother"

Constance ‘Connie’ (nee Igou) Henshaw, 61, of the Town of Niagara, NY, entered into rest, unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 8th, at her residence.  Born on October 13, 1946 in Tyrone, PA she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Miriam (McCahan) Igou, Sr.  On July 18, 1970 she married John Douglas Henshaw in St. Leo’s Church in the Town of Niagara.  He predeceased her on August 12, 1995.  

Mrs. Henshaw came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with her family.  Connie attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School.  She earned her Associates Degree from Niagara County Community College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Buffalo State College.  For eleven years, Mrs. Henshaw worked as a teacher for the Niagara County Head Start Program.  Connie loved her family and her dog, ‘Forest Gump’ and enjoyed the times they spent together.  

Mrs. Henshaw is survived by four children, Kathryn (Jason) Orsi of Niagara Falls, NY, John (Nicole) Henshaw of Niagara Falls, NY, Rachel Henshaw of Niagara Falls, NY and Sarah Henshaw of Tampa, FL; one granddaughter, Tricia Orsi of Niagara Falls, NY; one brother, Frederick Igou, Jr. of New Hampshire and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by one daughter, Amie Henshaw.  

Friends may call on Friday from 4-9 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, LASALLE PARK CHAPEL, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY (297-9007) where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12th at 12:00 NOON with Rev.
