On May 31 1917 Frank Hancher, age 22, registered for the World War I draft in Clarksburg, Ross County, Ohio.  He declared he was born Aug 20 1894 in Ross County, Ohio, and was then residing in Clarksburg, Ohio, single, a student at the State School for Deaf of Columbus, Ohio.  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, light hair, and "Deaf + Dumb".4  

On Apr 25 1942 Frank William Hancher, age 47, registered for the World War II draft in Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio.  He declared he was born Aug 20 1894 in Clarksburg, Ohio, and was then residing in Amanda, Fairfield County, Ohio, employed on his father's farm.  He declared his relative/contact was his father, Ellis Hancher of the same address.  He was recorded as 5'4" tall, 135 lbs., blue eyes, brown hair, ruddy complexion, and "Deaf and dumb".5
