John J. Hinshaw, age 61 of Crawfordsville, and formerly of Elwood, died unexpectedly on April 14, 2008 at his residence in Crawfordsville. He was born May 13, 1946 in Elwood, Indiana. He retired in 2008 from The Republic Newspaper in Columbus, Indiana where he worked as an Editor for many years. He had also formerly worked at the Crawfordsville Journal Review newspaper and the Colorado Springs Gazette newspaper. He was a 1964 graduate of Wendell L. Wilkie High School in Elwood. He formerly attended the East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood. He was also a former member of the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed bowling and auto racing.
Survivors include: 2 Sisters -- Nancy Hinshaw of Elwood and Betty and husband Don Fields of Carmel; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: Parents -- O. Eugene and Mary Anna (Perry) Hinshaw.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6:00 PM Friday, April 18, 2008 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Chris Dare of the First United Methodist Church in Elwood. Burial will take place privately by the family at a later date in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, April 18, 2008 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1500 North A Street, Elwood, IN 46036 or through the funeral home.
