Dear Brother and Sister,
I embrace the opportunity of answering your kind and welcome letter which came to hand last Thursday.    I was glad to hear from you.    I have also something else to tell you, that I got to see Luke again, he is here with us now.    I am as well as common.    You wrote you was so fleshy, that is something I am not troubled with.    I am leaner than you ever saw me.    I have lost the sight of one eye.    Joseph is dead and Ester was at Fort DesMoines the last I heard from her.    You wanted to know how my future prospects were.    I am well contented as concerns my afterstate.    I hope to go to a better place than this when the storms of life are over.    I hope to meet you all in the promised land.    We have not heard from Adam and Catharine for some time.    William's wife is dead again, and he lived with Adam with his 3 children, the last I heard from him.    Silas' widow lived in Kansas the last account I had of her.    Rachel was to see me two years ago.    You know more about Isaac than I do.    When you write again, write about your children all that you know about.    I guess this is all that I can think of now to write only write soon and with all the news.    Let Isaac read this, if you please, and I would like a scratch from his pen.    My love to you and yours, also to Isaac and Melissa and the children.    Farewell, yours in love, write soon.
Note: There are only two other Hinshaw/Henshaw families known to have lived in Highland County, Ohio:
Also: Elias' sons were known to have been in Platte County, Missouri (as perhaps Elias himself might have been).    There is another as yet unidentified Hinshaw family with a connection to Platte County, Missouri - see: Jonathan Hinshaw family.    This family might be closely related.
Also see: Ellis (Elias??) Henshaw who was married in Platte County, Missouri in 1856.
Jonathan Henshaw #15096 was born in Randolph County, North Carolina about 1776, and enlisted during the War of 1812 in Hillsboro [Ohio], and was given a land grant in Platte County, Missouri.    Jonathan Henshaw #15096 was very possibly Elias' brother.i
