In Loving Memory of
HINSHAW, Elizabeth M. (Schooler) "Hazel"

Passed away peacefully on December 27, 2007, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side at the age of 84.  Born on August 18, 1923 in Missouri, Elizabeth moved with her family to California in the 1930s and married Robert E. Hinshaw in 1942.  A member of the "Greatest Generation", Elizabeth worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard during World War II as a "Rosie the Riveter" while her husband served in the Army overseas.  Their daughter Judith Anne was born in July 1943.  The family moved to Sacramento after the war where they remained the rest of their lives.  The Hinshaws were very active in the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) attending the First Church of God and Northridge Church of God.  Elizabeth worked at the state capitol as a switchboard operator in the early 1950s and then at El Camino and Mira Loma High Schools through the '50s, '60s and '70s.  After their retirements, Robert and Elizabeth enjoyed going to Hawaii, taking a variety of cruises and traveling across the country.  Elizabeth began attending First Covenant Church after the death of her husband in 1998.  Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Elsie May and James Oren Schooler, younger brother Paul Calvin Schooler, older brother Harold Eugene Schooler and her husband of 55 years Robert Eugene Hinshaw.  Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judith and John Wallauch, sister Jerry Anne Cunningham, brother James Roy Schooler, grandchildren Tami Keller, Robert Brown, and Kelli Spiegel and great-grandchildren Brittney Abernathy, Alexandria Keller, Kayla Spiegel, and Isabella and Olivia Brown.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2008, at First Covenant Church, 10933 Progress Ct., Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.  Any remembrances to the Building Fund at First Covenant Church in Elizabeth's name.
